SpringBrook 1910

In 1899, a group of men decided to build a cheese factory to process their milk. It was called Springbrook Cheese Company.

The factory did well until 1928, when it burned completely. However, it was quickly rebuilt and most of that original structure is still there.

Cheesemaking continued and in 1965, Fred L. Wenger became the 11th. cheesemaker hired since 1899. The business continued to prosper and in 1975, the first of several additions was made, including in the future, two milk silos.

In 1978, Fred L. Wenger & Sons, Inc., was formed and Fred S. Wenger (Steve) became an owner with his father. In 1989, John H. Wenger became the third partner in this corporation.

Currently, We process 3 to 5 million pounds of milk per month. It is used to manufacture Swiss and Muenster Cheese that is distributed nationally to various accounts.

We can ship out trailer loads or smaller orders of cuts, whichever you prefer. We can also use our label or yours as desired.

Most recently, we placed 1st. and 2nd. in Monroe, Wisconsin's Cheese Days Contest, which is held every other year. We have also received an award from the State of Illinois for completing 100 years of continuous cheesemaking at Springbrook Cheese Company.
